Christopher loves all history and does not seem to have a favourite period (Dec 8 1999). He loves studying history because "it is a chronicle of human debasement from which has flowered some semblance of civilization. Great beauty from all this misery - that's empowering and uplifting to me" (June 30 2000). If Chris could discuss the origin of motivation with historical figures, he would choose to speak with "Vince Lombardi, Jung and Confucius" (Jan 12 2005). If he could travel back in time to a certain period, "Rome would be it, before the republic. Or NYC, any time up to 1950. Why? How it was, what it was" (Nov 15 2004). If he could change history, Chris has said that he would prevent the "JFK assassination" (July 7 2000) and that he would have America "stay out of 'Nam" (Jan 31 2005). When asked "True or False: the French Revolution is a direct outgrowth of the Enlightenment," Chris answered, "Combined with the American Revolution - true" (Apr 11 2000). Napoleon Bonaparte was a "great salesman" (Apr 11 2000). Finally, when asked whether fascism is "an ideology or merely a context specific style of totalitarianism," Chris answered, "It's when the bullies used xenophobia dressed in patriotism to rile up the sheep to satisfy their lust for power" (Apr 11 2000). According to Christopher, one thousand years from now, "a workable sustainable democracy forged from all peoples" will be considered America's greatest contribution to human history (Apr 26 2000). When asked what "invention of the 20th Century most advanced the cause of civilization," Chris answered, "If by 'cause' you mean a structure by which some measure of civility has a chance to breathe, I'd say WWII" (Apr 22 2000). If he were offered the role of his choice in a war movie, the period or war that would appeal to him would be "the Boxer Rebellion" or "the Crimean War - because they are rarely done" (Apr 18 2000).
