The first movie Chris ever saw was either Thunderball or The Blue Max (Apr 29 2000), but the first one that "had an impact was Little Big Man" (Apr 29 2000).

Chris says that he generally finds summer movies "too loud" (June 27 2000) and elaborates, "I rarely see one of the 'summer blockbuster' movies. I'd like to see a stronger focus on smaller, smarter movies" (Dec 6 2001). Chris has never seen Grease (Dec 25 2002) and saw the first two installments of the Lord of the Rings trilogy: "Hated the first, loved the second" (Apr 15 2004).

Chris's favourite Spielberg movie is Indiana Jones (Feb 3 2002). His favourite films directed by Francis Ford Coppola are "The Godfather I and II"; his favourite by Martin Scorsese is Raging Bull (Apr 4 2001). When asked to choose between Coppola and Scorsese, Chris said, "It’s a tie" (Apr 4 2001). Christopher thinks that Alfred Hitchcock was "groundbreaking," but also says, "I'm not a huge fan. I think I need to be educated about him. Old movies are tough for me to watch, 'cause often I don't buy the acting" (Feb 4 2003).

The film performances of the 1990s that have impressed him are "anything Ian Holm does," Anthony Hopkins in The Remains of the Day, Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull, Juliette Lewis in Cape Fear and "most anything Emma Thompson does" (Dec 27 1999). The best movies of the 1990s were Happiness, The Matrix, American Beauty and Election (Aug 2 2000). When asked about the film Boys Don't Cry, Chris says that he thought it was great, but that he liked American Beauty better (Mar 4 2000).

Christopher once said he has too many favourite movies to enumerate, but The Godfather and Brazil are on the list (Aug 10 2000); later, he said that his favourite movie is Citizen Kane. Chris explained that the Orson Welles film is a classic due to "the overwhelming balls it took to make it at the time, the shots he used, the lighting and the very naturalistic way he told a story" (Oct 10 2000).

The scariest movie he's ever seen is The Exorcist (June 12 2000), but Nightmare on Elm Street is Chris's favourite horror movie (Sept 18 2001).

The funniest movies he's ever seen are Young Frankenstein, Waiting for Guffman and Charlie Chapman's films (June 14 2000). Chris also calls South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut the "funniest movie of the decade" (Jan 12 2001).

Chris's favourite martial arts movies are any Jackie Chan movie and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Apr 10 2001), which is a movie he prefers to Enter the Dragon (Sept 18 2001).

Chris says he loves film noir, such as The Third Man, and finds that film noir and the "anti-hero thing" make an "unbeatable combo" (Apr 13 2001).

He has seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show and says that he can "take it or leave it" (Jan 1 2001; Dec 19 2001). One movie that makes him "weepy" is 21 Grams (Jan 31 2005).

When asked to choose between Spartacus and Gladiator, Chris said he would pick "Spartacus for the 'camp,' Gladiator for the opening scene" (Sept 18 2001). When asked to name his favourite "homoerotic 80s movie," Chris cited "all the Rambo movies" (Nov 1 2001).
