Chris says that he's not in awe of other actors, but that he is in awe of "some performances" and "things done" (Jan 3 2000). Male actors he admires are Marlon Brando (in his early acting years), Anthony Hopkins, Ian Holm, Richard Farnsworth, Johnny Depp, Robert DeNiro, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, Daniel Day-Lewis and Jack Nicholson (Mar 3 2000; Feb 3 2002; Sept 21 2003; Jan 20 2005). John Cazale and John Cassavetes are two deceased actors that he wishes he could have had a chance to work with (Mar 12 2000). The actresses Chris would most want to work with are Emma Thompson (Oct 19 2000; June 9 2000; June 19 2000) and Meryl Streep (June 19 2000). The performances of the 1990s that have impressed him were anything by Ian Holm, Anthony Hopkins in The Remains of the Day, Juliette Lewis in Cape Fear and almost anything by Emma Thompson (Dec 27 1999). Acting performances that have "really touched" him were Richard Harris in The Field, John Hurt in The Elephant Man and (again) Anthony Hopkins in The Remains of the Day. Chris explains that their performances evoked "the beauty of pain and the eternal search for dignity in the world," which are "great things to consider in my own work" (Apr 20 2005). Chris was also impressed by Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull, Brazil, Midnight Run and The Deer Hunter (Dec 27 1999; May 5 2000). Ed Wood is Chris's favourite Johnny Depp movie, "but I think he's always great" (Sept 28 2000). Chris likes Denzel Washington "much" (Oct 23 2001) and is a "big fan" of Vincent D'Onofrio, saying, "I thought he was off the charts in Full Metal Jacket" (May 25 2001). Of Stanley Tucci's films Big Night and Imposters, Chris says, "I could only hope to do something as good as Big Night. Imposters…had great moments, but just missed for me" (May 25 2001). Clint Eastwood is Christopher's favourite "classic" actor in the Westerns (Apr 18 2000). When it comes to comedians, Chris says, "The great ones, I am awed by and appreciate," naming Jim Carrey, Abbott and Costello, the Three Stooges (with Curly), Joe E. Brown and Bill Hicks (Apr 29 2000). Finally, Chris says he's both met and been confused with fellow actor Elias Koteas "many times" and that Koteas is a "great actor to be confused with. Good guy, too" (Feb 9 2000; June 27 2000). Last updated: March 04/06 | ||
