Christopher says, "I cringe at 90% of my photos" (Oct 9 2002) and admits that he has no idea which is his "best side" when he's being photographed (June 13 2000). The process of taking those photos during studio sessions generally takes "three to four hours" (June 19 2000) and he finds that studio photographers are "all fine" (June 13 2000). He doesn't always have to wear what the photographer tells him and sometimes gets to keep the clothes "at a discount," but doesn't usually have a say in photo selection (June 19 2000). Of studio sessions, publicity sessions, or posing for arrivals at celebrity functions, Chris finds the "press line is a bit more impromptu and less time consuming" (June 13 2000). The photo shoot for the magazine MIAMIGO involved an interesting coincidence; Chris says the photographer for the shoot "actually did one of my first sets of headshots" (Apr 29 2001).

Chris's publicist generally sets up his public appearances when Chris has "windows of free time" in his schedule (Apr 21 2000). For the in-depth cover story about him that appeared in Out Magazine, he says that spent "parts of three days" with the author and thinks that the article turned out to be "90% good" (June 14 2000).

Chris had a "great time" on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Mar 30 2000). About his appearance on The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Chris says, "They could not have been nicer" (Mar 4 2000). About Rosie herself, Chris says, "I never personally heard her trash the show [SVU], so it didn't affect me either way. I did bring her flowers, though, in case she thought I was coming with attitude. Never thought she was interrupting me" (Sept 16 2000). Commenting on one of his appearances on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Chris said that he sympathized then-guest host Kelly Ripa, since "all the girls they kept rotating in there were auditioning for the job of 'Kathie Lee' and I hate being around auditions. I've been there (and will continue to be)" (Jan 4 2001). About the attempts Ripa made during that appearance to joke about certain Oz storylines, Chris said, "She tried to put in an interesting two cents. Maybe she came up a penny short" (Jan 4 2001).

Before appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Chris had a pre-interview with the staff (July 24 2000). Similarly, when he was a guest on Politically Incorrect, Chris was advised of the show topics ahead of time, but had no input in selecting them. He elaborated, "I wasn’t particularly pleased with how I did. Not crazy about the topics. Pleased Bill Maher liked me. Would love to go back" (June 26 2000).

Chris would like to appear as a guest on The Charlie Rose Show (Mar 4 2000) and "would love to" make an appearance on The Howard Stern Show (Sept 7 2001), but thinks that Howard is not interested in having him as a guest (Feb 13 2003). On the other hand, when he was asked to appear on Fear Factor, Chris declined (Nov 16 2004). [It is unclear from Chris's answer whether the show had extended its invitation to the cast of SVU or to Chris alone. - Editor]

Chris has been to the Sundance Film Festival "three or four" times, including once to promote Bound (Feb 12 2001). When asked whether he attends "fashion and non-film/TV-related events" solely for publicity purposes, Chris replied, "Ya know, that's a good question…I honestly don't know why I go to things without a 'cause' behind them. Let me soul-search on that one" (Oct 29 2001).

Chris did not attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February 2004, because he is "not a huge fan of the awards thing" (Apr 15 2004). He received an invitation to the 2000 Emmy awards, but says he couldn't fit going to them into his schedule (Aug 30 2000). He was not disappointed at not being nominated for an Emmy for his work on SVU, but says, "For the show, however, I was disappointed that it wasn't nominated" (Jan 12 2005). He also says that he has a say regarding which episodes of SVU are submitted for Emmy voters to consider when they are deciding whether he should be nominated (Mar 28 2000).

About winning awards in general (and an Emmy in particular), Chris says, "Awards are good tools for the career. It's a recognition factor - you suddenly become known as 'an award-winning actor' to the money people and they are willing to now bank on you to bring people into the venue. Emmy? I don't sit up and dream about it, but hey - why not?" (Mar 4 2000) Regarding the fact that Oz tended to get shut out at the Emmys, Chris said, "I have so much to say on this subject, it's best just to let it be…you read into it" (Aug 2 2000). During Oz's initial run on-air, Chris was of the opinion that there was "very little chance" that the actors would get nominated, but thought that the show might receive an Emmy nod (Aug 4 2000). In response to a fan who asked why Chris wasn't nominated for his "wonderful job on Oz," he said, "Obviously, the people that vote are not as intelligent, savvy, tasteful and insightful as you. Forgive them, they know not what they do" (Sept 20 2003).

Christopher's final word on awards came in response to a fan who asked, "What is your opinion of the Oscars and the way nominations and winners are determined?" Chris answered, "It's all a sale for the masses. Are ya buying?' (Jan 16 2001)

In contrast to his opinion of awards, Chris seems to be upset about not being mentioned in People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People issue: "You mean I was overlooked again???! And after all of my exhaustive campaigning (deep sigh). Maybe next year" (Apr 26 2005).

Random facts: The source for the very first tabloid article written about Chris was listed as a "close friend"; Chris says, "The 'close friend' was the little voice of fiction in the author's head" (Jan 7 2001). Chris, and not the photographer, chose the pose that he uses in the black-and-white photo of him that is on the entrance page of this forum, but Chris refuses to say why he wanted that picture to be used here (Apr 11 2000).
