Generally speaking, Christopher says he would play "any role that strikes me" (Mar 2 2000) and would take "any role, any time, anywhere" (Apr 18 2000). Chris would take any theatre role offered (Feb 9 2000). He has never done Shakespeare (Feb 9 2000), but of all Shakespearean characters, Chris finds Hamlet especially intriguing (Apr 18 2000). The Shakespearean characters he would most like to portray are "Hamlet, Falstaff and that spear carrier guy in Julius Caesar" (Nov 14 2003). Of established theatre pieces, Chris's dream would be to act in The Zoo Story (Apr 17 2000) playing the part of Jerry (Aug 20 2000; Feb 12 2001). Of plays currently on Broadway, Chris could see himself acting in The Producers (May 25 2001). A fan asked whether he would have any hesitation about playing a character already immortalized by others. Chris replied, "Depends. I have been asked to audition for movies as Sinatra or Letterman and I didn't find it in me to be able to do it. A character…maybe that's different" (Mar 12 2000). If they were doing a remake of On the Waterfront, Christopher would want a part in it (Mar 4 2000), but he wouldn't touch the Travis Bickle role if anyone were ever to remake Taxi Driver (July 24 2000). If he were playing Starsky in a remake of Starsky and Hutch, Chris would have Lee Tergesen play Hutch and Kathy Bates as the director (June 8 2001). If Christopher had the chance to play a character from a 1960s or 1970s TV show, he would play Joe Friday from Dragnet (Apr 17 2000), but has "no idea" what current TV show (aside from ones he's already doing) he could see himself in (May 25 2001). He would also love to do children's books as audio books (Apr 18 2000). Chris would turn the novel A Confederacy of Dunces into a movie, with himself in the lead and with Mos Def as his co-star (Aug 23 2000; June 22 2003). Chris also would want to turn Knut Hamsun's Pan into a film (Oct 19 2000). Christopher's dream job would be to "work with Scorsese" (June 22 2003) and if he had a choice between doing a Spielberg film and a Scorsese film, he would choose to do "Marty's" (June 19 2000). He says that doing a comedy with Lee Tergesen "would be the greatest experience ever" (Mar 4 2000). Chris says he sings "in the bathroom" and would therefore only do a musical if "those plays were done in my bathroom" (Mar 4 2000). If he were offered the role of his choice in a war movie, the period or war that would appeal to him would be "the Boxer Rebellion" or "the Crimean War - because they are rarely done" (Apr 18 2000). If he were to play a role in a Western, Chris would prefer an "action/moral dilemma Western" (Apr 18 2000). A character that Christopher would most like to portray would be a "very 'charactery' role - if that makes sense. Something away from the 'hero' archetype" (Nov 7 2001). Professions he has not yet played on film or television that he would like to portray are "an archeologist with a bullwhip, a drug addict and a boxer" (Apr 28 2000). Michelangelo is the artist Chris would like to portray on film (Jan 12 2002) and Jesus is a historical figure he would want to play, since Jesus "was the ultimate rebel" (Aug 23 2000). Christopher says that he would have done a part in one of The Matrix sequels "in a heartbeat" (Mar 3 2000; June 22 2003) and actually auditioned for the part of "the bad guy" in the first Matrix movie (Mar 28 2000). If he could not have played Keller on Oz, he would have wanted to play Adebisi, saying, "I thought he was very rich and unique and specific" (Feb 17 2001). Chris also would have wanted to play Wolverine in X-men (Aug 23 2000), but thinks too, that Lee Tergesen should have played the role (Nov 14 2003). When asked whether he would refuse to play a part because of his beliefs, Chris replied, "I don't believe in smug, sanctimonious a-holes, so I would not play Jerry Falwell" (Mar 4 2000). If Christopher were offered a Robert Kincaid type of role (the lead character in The Bridges of Madison County), he says, "If the life of my family was at stake and they guaranteed me $20 million after taxes, I’d consider it…maybe. What I mean to say is that was the absolutely worst book I’ve ever read" (Apr 15 2001). Chris got offered a one-episode role on Sex and The City, but found that it was "not very interesting," so he turned it down (June 22 2003). A role on Six Feet Under is something he "would dig (pun anyone, pun)" (June 22 2003). Chris actually got onto Six Feet Under indirectly, when the characters on that show were watching Oz (Mar 20 2005). Christopher would only do a movie with Jet Li "if I could hold my own against him for a good 10 minutes before he destroyed me" (Sept 7 2001). | ||
