Happy Fall Christopher - to you and yours! I want to first thank you for "opening up the phone lines" to your fanbase. We sure appreciate it, even if getting an answer turns one into a puddle of goo!
  1. I've been waiting to ask you this question - and it is quite personal so if its flagged, so be it.

I read in the archives that you believed you would never ever return to your church or recieve communion again. I just graduated from seminary - second career aspirations aside, it is something I've always felt called to. My question is, what would make you return? So many in our generation have left the church - for all sorts of reasons - and it is therefore suffering from intense aging. Do you believe change can come from within? What happens to the "institution" when there is no heart to sustain it?
meloni   I don't believe I will ever return because I feel faith is personal and I don't need a support group or community to make me feel wanted or fuller or more involved in my spiritual journey. And I don't look down on anyone who does prefer the comfort of church. But to me the church first and foremost role is to maintain a power structure and then secondly ( a distant second) ministers to peoples needs. And I'm glad you used the word 'institution'- that is what's wrong. The best hope for humankind is the whithering and death of these 'institutions'. empower people in faith don't make or seduce them into blindly following- challenge them to find it on their own like you would your own children
  2. Well - that was heavy! Somewhat lighter: My son Ethan is autistic. I want to thank you so much for participating in Comedy Central's "Night of Too Many Stars". Did you have fun? and who got you involved in it?
meloni   children charity- no brainer, and they said I would be the one star too many- no brainer and flattering
  3. I was impressed with your reviews for "A View From a Bridge". O'Neill is a big favorite of mine, along with Williams. Are you seeking out any longer running appearances state side in the theater? If not, why not?
meloni   too intense while still with SVU. After, yes

I hope that this year has been fulfilling for you as an actor, husband, father and friend. You certainly seem happy - I can only hope that appearances tell your story. You do great work and give more happiness than you can imagine through your work. God bless you and your lovely family and have a great holiday season - and get some rest!

meloni   thanks for saying and I wish you an awesome, uplifting spiritual journey. good luck. Heal

Hey Chris,
This is my first time asking a question (I LOVE the feeling of being a noob, lol ... Feel the love. Firstly, I'm 16, and I go to a small highschool down in Tennessee. I suppose that's really all that you need to know...........
Anywho..I hope all is well on your side of the computer screen.
  1. Okay... I have my fair share of nicknames that my evil friends I go to high school with came up with.. (Don't laugh... "J. Dizzle" "Dilly-Willy", "Dillard" and the good one.... "Ping Dilly-Willy Drizzle".) I doubt you can beat my last one, but do you have any funny/embarrasing nicknames. I shared mine now it's your turn!. One of my friends got me a shirt that had "J. Dizzle" on it, so really, it can't get any worse.
meloni   malonze. only good friends can use it
  2. As I mentioned above, I'm in highschool. I'm currently taking Geometry (which is 1000x harder than Algebra.. Grr. Die Geometry.) and Chemistry (which I love). Were there any classes that you loved to go to when you were in school? Why?
meloni   history- only thing I was marginally good at
  3. What are the top ten songs you've got playing on your iPod/mp3 player/whatever you have at the moment? Maybe you've heard of some of my bands.. I have a variety of Train (rock band...sorta), Casting Crowns (Christian Rock), and Third Day (also Christian Rock).. sound familiar? They're pretty awesome, but I don't know your taste in music.
meloni   well I was in Tennessee, with family and I put in a Tool album and and the kids called it the 'devils' music...I listen to Tool...so hail Satan...I guess

Well, thanks for taking the time to answer everybody's questions! You are such a great person to be doing this for all your fans, because most actors/actresses wouldn't do this sort of thing.

I love watching L&O: SVU; the show has so many great actors (you're definitely being included here) and I admire your abilities greatly. It's alot harder than it looks, lol. Kudos to you my friend!!!!! Have a great Christmas, and I wish all the best to you and your family.

meloni   peace

Chris thanks for taking the time to ans questions...
  1. Did you enjoy doin a veiw from the bridge, and your time in Ireland? Any plans to do more theatre?
meloni   the first 3 weeks were tough. missing family, reality check about what the life of the average working actor was like (hard work, deep exploration and no pay), and strange land with not much time to explore it. In the end it was one of the great experiences of my working life
  2. Did Ice T warn you about killer leprachauns before ya came to Ireland? haha Leprachaun 4 is a legand film!
meloni   no, but he would know about it
  3. Season 7 of SVU is just finishing over here in Ireland, its amazing. season 8 is goin to be WOW, I can tell!! Whats to look forward to in season 8?

Hey Chris,
I wanted to let you know that you’re an amazing actor and my favorite by far. It’s so great that you answer these questions for people and I’m definitely psyched because you might reply to this! There are very few actors who can be as hysterical as you in a comedy and as moving as you in a drama and that’s one of the qualities that makes you so great. So keep up the good work so we can continue to be entertained! I hope you know that you’re extremely talented and you’re so great at what you do.
meloni   That's very nice to hear
  1. It's great that SVU has been running for so long and don't get me wrong, you're amazing in it! But some people don't know how great you can be in other roles. Were you ever concerned about being typecast as a certain role, being on a show that's been running for so long?
meloni   yes, but I have been happy and I looking forward to challenges that will be coming up. Maybe I am naive but I don't think I'll be typecast as Stabler once I'm done...hm
  2. Do you have any favorite directors that you worked with on SVU?
meloni   David Platt, Juan Campinella, Jon Kaplen, Ted Kotcheff, Peter Leto
  3. As I mentioned, you’re amazing in comedy and drama, but do you prefer acting in one over the other?
meloni   which ever I'm missing at the time

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to answer these for me! Hopefully you're not too busy to take a picture with me if I'm ever lucky enough to meet you haha.
All the best to your wife and gorgeous kids! Keep up the good work and incredible acting.
Thanks again and lots of love

Mr. Meloni,
Thank you for taking the time to answer questions. As the aunt of an autistic child, I would like to thank you personally for supporting such a worthy cause as autism by appearing on the “Night of Too Many Stars”. You are truly a selfless person to help others in need and a role model for others.
  1. 1. Is there anything in particular about a script which draws you to it, and is there some characters easier to slip into than others?
meloni   variety of reasons to do things- some more calculated than others,ie role may not be great but the people you involve yourself with may pay dividends later. Other than that it's equal parts, what do I need, what do I want, what is weird, what will help career, what just feels right
  2. 2. As a person looks back over their life, what do you think are the important milestones that have helped to form the person that they are today?
meloni   parents, sports, and the stressful situations you were put into or got into and how you dealt with them
  3. 3. As an actor, you are able to sway public opinion. Do you feel you have to be more cautious than the average person about what and who you support? As a person who seems to have an appetite for life and freedom, does this make you feel confined in anyway?
meloni   I think any sway I may have (as intense as it may seem in the moment) is fleeting and superficial at best. Example_ I'll bet hits on this website have fallen- most "fans" invest in the flavor of the month and then move on to the "newer", my impact is fleeting and I don't believe for the vast majority, deep. Anything of any weight or significance comes from commitment, and if I am commited to something it does not matter what others think- fan or not... can't live yer life by others sentiments. So please, EVERYONE- VOTE JERRY FALWELL FOR 2008. Thank you. um...did that make sense?
    who's dead?
    wha?
    when?
    uh...VOTE FOR THE POPE

A fan not only of you acting talent but also of your humanitarian efforts

Hi Chris! I am a 17 year old senior in high school, and I have just recently started getting into Law and Order: SVU...you are amazing on there! I am planning on buying all the seasons once they all come out on DVD.
  1. Do you like the direction SVU is going in? I watched the new episode on Tuesday where Elliot and Dani kiss, and it seemed really out of place to me. Your thoughts? (I hope this only counts as one question...)
meloni   well if yer new ya gotta invest in Stablers place before you can say outta place...I think. Some things I don't like others I'm fine with...I don't run the show though, nor would I want to- tough job
  2. I have read that you support gay marriage and gay rights, and I think that's great. I am with you. What do you think about the recent constitutional amendment that was passed (at least it was here in Wisconsin...), banning same sex marriage? Where do think the gay/bisexual community should go from here? I'm just curious.
meloni   change comes from pushing- from all sides.
  3. Do you like Mountain Dew?
meloni   haven't had it in 30 years

Thanks Chris! Keep up the AWESOME work on SVU...you're fantastic!
Wisconsin loves you! Well, I do anyway. haha

Amy   Answered Jul 1st 8:32 PM
Chris I think you are absolutely amazing. I started watching SVU on USA last summer and I have been hooked ever since.
  1. What do you think of Guilianni possibly running for presidency in 2008?
meloni   looks great in pearls and plunging neckline
  2. What did you think of The Da Vinci code? Book and movie. Personally I loved the book, but the movie wasn't as great.
meloni   I hated that fucking book with a passion. I read like 400 pages and threw it across the room with 15, 20 pages to go- gotta hand it to him though, he was able to jerk me around for as long as he did. Hence my reaction to missing that question on Jeopardy.
  3. What is a typical day like for you from the time you wake up to when you go to sleep?
meloni   wake, shower, bfast, work, calls, reading, family, workout, sleep

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions Chris. It means so much to your fans. I wish you luck with everything you do in the future. Also, I hope your family is in good health and safe.

  1. What event or period in history would you like to have experienced first hand?
    meloni   early NYC, Rome
  2. What histotical figure would you like to portray?
    meloni   Jesus
  3. What do you think of the "softer", more easy going Elliot Stabler?
meloni   uh...I don't know. is he here now?

Thank you for your time. I look forward to seeing more of you in the future. Candi

Hey Mr. Meloni! Congragulations on winning Jeorpardy. Right now I'm taking a break from my math homework. I am a huge fan of your work, especially Law and order svu.
  1. Being a father of children, you probably end up having to watch a lot of tv show like Barney. Which is your favorite? Mine is probably Winnie the Pooh.
    meloni   sponge bob
  2. I am getting confirmed this year, and I haven't found a sponsor yet. Will be my sponsor? I'm running out of time to find someone, and I don't know many Catholics.
meloni   I'm not the best choice
  3. Here is my last question. Have you been lifting more than usual? The only reason I ask is because when my mom and I were watching the new law and order on Nov. 14, my mom said that your pecks looked way bigger than in other episodes.
meloni   I am on a weight training regimen (awesome trainer), with a very strict diet that is geared towards bulking me up a bit

Thank you so much for answering my questions. I can't wait for your new movie to come out!

Kate   Answered Apr 3rd 9:33 PM
Hi Chris
You seem like a very solid guy, and a nice family man. Keep it up!
Sincerely,
Kate
PS. you are a great actor too...
  1. Do you believe in life after death or that our loved ones stick around after they die, especially if they left suddenly? Your show covers a lot of horrible brutality and death, and I was wondering your thoughts on this subject.
meloni   Right now (and this is a subject that is evolving for me) I do not think there is life after death. I think people that we love make such an impact on us that we keep them alive after death. But this is all subject to change...let emtry to figure out what the soul or consciousness is
  2. If you do believe in some kind of consciousness after death...do you think those that have passed try and leave signs that they still are here in spirit?
meloni   no. they have better things to do

Tessla Blunt   Answered Apr 3rd 9:54 PM
WOW. I really can't believe you would do this sort of thing for us little people, where we actually get a PERSONAL letter back. Especially when you're so busy. I admire you, and your work. Heh. I must admit, I'm kinda crazy fanatic when it comes to you. A little about myself . . My name is Tessla, I just recently turned 15, I'm a female and I live in Texas. Well, I'd better get to askin' so you can answer other questions!
  1. Hmmm, what to ask . . . Oh! Does it feel funny sometimes to know millions of people not only are watching you, but putting you on a pedestal and admiring you? (particularly the creepy fans who would pay to own a peice of your clothing?)
meloni   I just answered one of those "creepy" fans...hm. the fact there are millions I've gotten over, when they don't dust around the base of the pedestal-THAT annoys me
  2. Chris, as an aspiring actress (yep, but I need practice!) I would like to know . . .is it hard to get in and out of the different characters? And does it get easier with time?
meloni   easier with time. you get more comfortable with acting, confident. you run into trouble when you mistake comfortable with complacent
  3. Another acting question. Sometimes when you're acting, does it ever feel like your the character, and all the emotions are real?
meloni   the emotions are real. ya ever see someone fake cry??? who gives a fuck- stop faking. it's either real or it ain't.

Well, I know my inquiries weren't all that great, but I have so many it was hard to weed out some of the burning ones. ^_^ Once again, I admire you very much, I always try to catch SVU (first time I saw you), and any other movie/show you're in. I really can't wait to hear from you! Sayonara.

P.S. If ya ever wanna catch a flick or somethin' just have your people call mine. (acting humor! ha HA . . .okay, sorry , not funny)^_^

-Tessla, a fan whom you have to remeber, so we can be friends when I get famous.

meloni   good luck
Sari   Answered Apr 3rd 9:45 PM
I know you have been told this over and over, but you are fantastic both as an actor and as someone who is great to look at.
  1. My first questions involves a confession of a weak moment. I was on E-Bay late one night looking for a gift when for kicks I typed in your name; up popped an auction for a Large Cream colored Italian shirt supposedly worn by you. I bid and low and behold I won! I have no idea if you really wore it so I am wondering if you remember such a shirt on SVU?
meloni   I doubt it real seriously, but my tighty whiteys are so old they're a bit cream colored so maybe if ya see those on ebay...
  2. As one avid reader to another I am curious what three books you would want to have with you if stranded on a desert Island? I picked three because I would want a spiritual book, Dante’s Inferno and a survival guide LOL
    meloni   Sexus by Henry Miller
Decline and fall of the roman empire
    poems by Remi
  3. No, won't go there. I want to ask but it really is not my business:)
    meloni   yes

Thanks for being such a nice guy to all of your fans.

trista   Answered Apr 3rd 9:39 PM
Hi Mr. Meloni! I can't begin to tell you how much i enjoy watching you. You seem to be one of those down-to-earth celebrities, so thank you for being so tolorable. Not to mention hot as hell! Two quick questions:
  1. Do you watch american idol?
meloni   once. and it was good for that one time, for me
  2. Do you have a pet? If so, what do you have?
meloni   no, I have two wild undomesticated animals that tear up my furniture and give me no rest-Dante and Sophia

Thanks so much for your time and have a great day/night.

maya   Answered Apr 3rd 9:37 PM
It's always good to be prepared before engaging into something like 'Ask something to the one that stars in your XXrated dreams'. So I did my research throughout the copious amount of info stored in the FAQ site. And, since you've probably been asked everything, starting from the blue briefs, to politics and personal beliefs, I decided to go with something Stabler(ish).
  1. I hope you'll give us all the chance to admire you potraying Stabler for a long time, and assuming that dealing with this hero-persona on a daily basis is kind of tough (who wouldn't have hard time with an hero?), I was wondering if you see this character with a personal journey to make.
And he if he does, what paths do you see him taking? Is there a place you'd like to see him when you'll be done with him?
meloni   never thought about it on a conscious level but I think he has traveled an interesting road. I'd like to see him find some peace within, but I think we have to still dig inside to unveil a few more demons.

Thank you for your time.
You're a fine actor, you sound like a smart man, and, as of now, you are totally the beholder of the 'ass of life'.
And you're fun.
See, you're a fine piece of entertainment, and surely way more than that.
Peace
