Thanks for answering my last set of questions.
  1. San Francisco most definitely rocks. I grew up there, though, and so I often forget how special it is. What's your favorite part of or thing about SF?
meloni   east coast meets west coast, and in between it's very sexy
  2. My grandparents live by the four corners! Have you been to Mesa Verde then?
    meloni   sure have. beautiful
  3. You said you do naturey stuff when in the right frame of mind. What frame of mind would that be? Like, when you're particularly stressed out or claustrophobic or something?
meloni   naturey stuff- huh?? don't get it

You still totally rock for answering our questions. Keep up the great work and I hope you get to travel to cool places on your next vacation!

paulgeorge   Answered Apr 20th 11:03 PM
something i've always wondered about
  1. You once said a very embarrasing moment for you was getting aroused while shooting a scene in "Oz" can you tell what exactly that scene was?
    meloni   how about game!!
Brian ask people what they thought the moment was. the winner gets...uh...whatever

Hello Mr. Meloni, hope all is well. Here's a few random questions...
  1. Has anyone ever described you as being Enigmatic? Is it likely that people perceive you as one?
meloni   yes. if you don't talk too much you can get that label
  2. Be honest now... How many times have you googled yourself? Do you still google yourself now and then?
meloni   never googled me. would I like it?
  3. In recent episode of SVU I could literally see steam coming out of your ears. It must be quite intense to be doing that all day... Have you ever gotten sick after such day of shooting?
    meloni   it's exhausting...but very satisfying

Alright Meloni, take care... and keep the pressure at a minimum level, we don't want you to go all Stabler-Raving-Mad.

meloni   ok

Shalom!
Peace.

Deb   Answered Apr 20th 10:58 PM
Hello. Hope you are doing well. I just wanted to thank you for your work. If I'm feeling down, SVU or another of your works will help me out a lot. Its been said that if an actor touches even just one person with his work then he has done his job. Thats what its all about...touching the audience. And believe me, you have done your job.
meloni   that's very nice of you to say
  1. I guess I'll ask a question along the same lines. What actor(s), or any other person for that matter, has really touched you? Not necessarily your favorite actor, although they are often one and the same. And if one has touched you, how has this affected your own work?
meloni   Richard Harris in 'The Field". John Hurt in "The Elephant Man" Hopkins- Remains of the Day. The beauty of Pain and the eternal search for dignity in the world- to me, great things to consider in my own work
  2. This is a silly question, but why not? So, you and Hilary Duff are the two (famous) people that really affect me and can bring me up when I am down. I'm not sure why, its just one of those things (I'm 21, so people think I'm wierd with the Hilary thing). Anyway, do you find it wierd to be there in the same vain (for lack of a better term) with a teenage pop star? You both are awesome and I will stand by that till I die or one of you does something offensive (not that that will ever happen). What do you think?
meloni   I know nothing of Duff, never seen anything she's done. what do I think??? uh...I just picked my nose, is that offensive??

Again, thank you. Hope all is well.
Peace and Love always,

Jannine   Answered Apr 20th 10:51 PM
G'day Christopher.
I'll apologise up front for boring you and bringing up ancient ground; but bear in mind I have just watched 4 series of OZ and 5 seasons of SVU in the last 5 months, and its all still new to me! Some people I think I have a fixation.... But I just want to felicitate and express gratitude to you for the work you have done, especially in these 2 shows.
I keep telling people around me that you have this uncanny ability to sell a scene with just a look; twitch of your mouth; tilt of your head... You are so believable and so captivating on screen. I feel compelled when watching you and know that the words coming from you are more than just words in a script.
We're about 6 weeks into Season 6 of SVU here in Aus so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the season play out. I'm looking forward to the release of seasons 5 and 6 of OZ!
  1. There has been much debate around here concerning the sexual chemistry you appear to share with those acting around you, i.e. Mr Tergesen, Ms Moreno - not to mention Mr Bloom and yes, even your own forearm in one unforgettable scene in OZ. No one around here thinks you have any chemistry with Isabel Gillies however; do you agree?
meloni   maybe we have the chemistry of a couple married 18 years that have some problems to sort out and can't quite figure out how to do it? maybe.
  2. If SVU were to finish tomorrow and Dick Wolf wanted to take Elliot Stabler on a solo ride into a brand new show, would you do it?
    meloni   no
  3. All the Aussies around here band together and send you a return ticket to Aus... Do we entertain you with a good old fashioned BBQ (complete with a few coldies) - do we take you to a swank restaurant (complete with all the good Aussie wines) or do you settle for one of my awesome curries?
meloni   well if I'm flying 18 hours, trust me, we'll be doing all of the above

Thanks for indulging.
Peace

Jeannette   Answered Apr 20th 10:47 PM

  2. What was it like to be working with Johnny Depp and Monty Python's Terry Gilliam for "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"?
meloni   love affair with terry. Depp was complete professional and very fun to work with
  3. Have you ever considered making a guest spot on South Park (one of my other favorite shows)?

Oh my god Chris!! I have been waiting to ask you a question for sooo LONG!! I am shaking right now!! (sorry if I sound a bit weird) I am 13 years old... And I am OBSESSSED with you and SVU!! (again sorry i am just soo EXCITED!!!) Well. Just incase I dont get to talk to you.. Happy Birthday to you on April 2nd!!!
  1. Okay.. (OMG I CANT BELIVE IM DOING THIS!!) too much red Bull. Well.. Im going to say this... I had a dream of myself in 5th period doing some stupid essay.. then In the corner of my eye, i see you in the doorway, wearing jeans and some kind of yellow shirt.... then u take me out of school that day.. and we hang at the board walk for the day...
Ever think about making my dream come true?
meloni   yes!! and then the police come knocking on my door- "a Truant" they say, and I hem and haw and stammer a bit, mumbling something about 'just drinking red bull' and then your mother comes to the door and I start screaming something like "13??!! she told me 18!!, I swear!" and she shoots me. let's talk to Jung
  2. All my friends think tht i am nuts to concentrate on Law & Order SVU other than that MTV Bull.... and i know they are wrong... so could tell them how wrong they are?
meloni   really really really wrong. stay away from them
  3. Be honest... Have you ever google searched yourself? or have you ever gone on the message boards and read what your fans are talking about?
meloni   no. I troll around here occasionally and listen to the critics give there opinions, and wait for words of wisdom from Brian (big sigh)
Brian   Oops. Considering my recently expressed opinions about SVU perhaps I'm in trouble :-)

I just want to let you know... that you are the best role model!! You are GREAT!!! One last favor? I know you are probaly tired of doing these, but PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Could you just say " Maria FROM brick NJ IS SMART FOR LOVING THE SHOW!!" i want to print this out and SHOVE IT IN THEIR MTV LOVING FACES!!!
I hope sherman, dante and sophia are well!! Tell Mariska my prayers are with her and her family? Thanks!!

What a treat to get to talk to you, Chris! My sister got me into SVU about two years ago. Your acting just keeps getting better and better.
  1. As a martial artist, I found that it increased my confidence level tenfold. I've always been shy, and being in the martial arts helped me in so many ways. I'm wondering if studying the martial arts did anything like that for you? And if not, what kind of effect has it had on your life?
meloni   Confidence sure. I agree. U nderstanding the science of protecting yourself gives one peace of mind
  2. My sister wants to know, if its hard to play a character with such big faults like agressive tendencies?
meloni   well...aggressive tendencies in the name of justice (or what my character perceives it to be), is that a big fault? anyway, playing the faults of a character is the fun part
  3. Have you ever spent some time in the mountains of Utah?
meloni   near Moab...does that count as mountains??

Keep up the great work, Chris. Thanks a lot for answering these questions

Hello again,
Thanks for the shiraz tips, penfolds is not bad. Hope the weather in NYC isn't treating you too badly. I am in fact going to be doing some recording there the week of 3/14, so if you have some pull with the weather gods...
  1. In one of your earlier posts you said that you would like to meet Jesus. I've often said that if I could time travel I would travel back to the time of Jesus and hear Him first hand. Do you think that if He were to come back to earth today, He would be appalled(sp? sorry) at what the institutionalized church has become?
meloni   don't think it's what he had in mind, but maybe it's all we allow ourselves to accept
  2. Have you been able to practice any yoga lately? I highly recommend taking a yoga class that is geared towards strength and endurance. It will kick your ass every single time.
meloni   no time and it makes me sad
  3. Being from Indianapolis, racing is quite the big deal here. I don't quite get it but...I do have primo tickets up for grabs every year. Are you a racing fan at all? If you ever want to see the Indy 500, you know who to call for the hookup.
meloni   not really interested. but thanks

Thanks for interacting, and if I ever run into you, the tequila (if that is still your shot of choice) is on me.

Ella   Answered Apr 5th 10:15 PM
Hi Chris, You have always been an actors whose talents I have appreciated, but almost as thought a lightbulb went off in my head as I was watching SVU recently, I have grown completely enamoured with you. This has spurred months of playing catch up. I have now seen all of Oz, several seasons of SVU and several of your films. Your work is entirely breathetaking.
  1. Recently, I rented the Season 4 DVD set of Oz on which Lee Tergesen plays an absolutely endearing and hysterical message that you left for him on his cell phone. Many of us found a great deal of pleasure in that little tid bit. Did you know that was there?
meloni   not until you people told me. can't wait to hear it. nicve to have documented proof of how much I love the man
  2. From everything you have said in interviews, clearly fatherhood has been a powerful force in your life. Do you feel that becoming a father & now having been a dad for a number of years has fatherhood added another layer to your performances? If so, can you share with us how?
meloni   it has, but the depth and complexity in which it has had an effect is too much to really explain here...perhaps in my best selling, scandal dripping yet witty and accessible memoirs...yes, perhaps
  3. Like yourself, I have done a great deal of travel. And over the years it has dawned on me that my greatest educational experiences have been gained by emersing myself in other cultures. If you could take your children to live in another country, amist an entirely different culture to our in the USA, which would it be?
    meloni   Italy

Congradulations on an outstanding career thus far. You have brought me great pleasure in ways that I can only hope your career has brought to you.

  1. Do you have any basketball tips(even though my school's 7th-8th grade team season is over)? I'd like to learn more tips. I usually play against my sister and my dad in our court in the spring.

Chris... You are THE man!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!
Happy birthday on 4/02!!

the grandma!   Answered Mar 20th 9:45 PM
hello!
okay... here's the deal. I like Elliot Stabler. i was disillusioned when i found out you weren't just like him, but oh well... i read ALL the responses in ask chris and decided that there were things about you that i could relate to and admire also. i read the miller book and he said something to the effect that great ones don't preach but admirers are drawn to them and have a desire to become better for having come in contact with them. i came away from reading your responses wanting to be a better person... so i guess on occasion i would have to number you among the great ones... does that cheer you!
meloni   I'll sleep better tonight G-Ma
  1. i read the miller book... unbelievable vocabulary the man had. i could only handle about 20 pages at a time and then my brain would be fried (i only have a little brain...) i was mesmerized by his ability to write and there were gems of wisdom that blew me away, but i came away as a female feeling demeaned (good thing i don't rely on him for validation)((good thing you don't rely on me either because i never even realized you were good looking until i read the other entries in ask chris... o well...)) i'm trying to decide whether it is worth trudging through the slime or not, so if you have read plexus or nexus, is he still a sexual predator... does his character evolve, or is it more of the same? (and if brian will forgive me for piggybacking... how many words did you have to look up?...)
meloni   if you read Sexus, you've passed the course, move on. say....20 words.
and you didn't know I was good looking???? c'mon everyone tells me so, it must be true
  2. do you like symbolism? if you do - have you read the little prince? (de st. exupery) one of the great emotional connectors of all time. 'it is only with the heart that one can see rightly... that which is essential is invisible to the eye.' great to read with the little people. i love the rose, i love the fox...
meloni   loving symbolism so much. read it.
  3. were you serious when you stated you would vote for John McCain for president? usually i can tell when you are teasing, but ... i love his fiscal point of view and his foreign policy opinions (now that i looked him up because you were interested... ) but he's (shhhh) not liberal!! i emailed his senate contact email to see what his stand was on the gay/lesbian issues since i couldn't find out anything on that and i haven't gotten a response... but anyway i volunteered you to head up his campaign in your spare time!
meloni   dead serious. he's a serious man. and a hero.

well - we're coming to NYC next week! we'll be watching the st paddy's day parade from the steps of the metropolitan museum of art... we'll be the ones with the green glitter on our faces!

meloni   missed ya, I must have been too drunk. I called out yer name though

Boyan   Answered Mar 20th 9:39 PM
Hey, Chris!
I really love your sense of humor and your musical taste (I adore Portishead, Radiohead, and Enigma). Since you've been complimented on your acting and looks many times, I won't repeat it (though I agree with those as well).
  1. I see you like to read, and I was wondering do you like SF?
    meloni   what is it?
  2. Do you know the song "I Love You... I'll Kill You" by Enigma? It seems like it's written for Keller & Beecher kind of love (lyrics especially), and I'm kind of sorry no one thought to use it for some scenes in OZ. If you know the song, what do you think?
    meloni   strike two
  3. Have you ever appeared on "Six Feet Under", or it's just my imagination playing tricks on me?
meloni   they were watching Oz on the show that's how I got on

Just one more thing to say - for some obscure reason, song "Sleep" by Conjure One lately reminds me of you. Check it out if you can, it's really cool and beautiful and highly recommended (very similar to Enigma's sound). Cheers.
Oh, yes, and special thanx to Brian for this site

meloni   3 cheers for Brian

Christopher,
I’ve yet to happily stumble across you in the city, but I happily stumbled across this website. I absolutely adore you…you are so gorgeous. Handsome, strong, dominatin’ in your roles. Oh, how I’d like to be stuck in a small cell with you. Ahem. I say, move over Pitt and Clooney. A girl can fantasize, until she meets her Meloni look-alike, preferably a non-subway seat scrambler guy. And, the best part is, you’re such a talented actor.
  1. Saw that you’re a South Park fan. Love it. Are you also a fan of Family Guy? The baby with the British accent just about kills me.
meloni   I have recently been informed that I need to check it out
  2. Read that you like to go to museums (when you have time). Have you been to the newly renovated MoMA? What did you think? By the way, they have great Family Programs on the weekends for the wee ones and ‘rents. I’m a volunteer, and I haven’t seen anything but awe by the ‘rents and joy and brilliant comments by the lil’ ones.
meloni   went and the line went around the block so we bagged. but we'll be back. Looks cool
  3. In a recent episode y’all were chasin’ the bad guy near the Gowanus in Brooklyn. Being near me, I thought, oh wouldn’t it be nice to run into you. Any plans to film in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn anytime soon? Specifically Smith Streetish? Oh, I would like to say hello, shake your hand. (I’ve seen the original L&O often filmed near my work, Union Square, not so lucky to have seen SVU). Well, no, just a smile would do.
meloni   we've shot there about 4 times.

Thanks for takin’ the time to communicate with your lil’ ol’ fans, with Texas typin’ accents. Hugs, Smiles.

Just two stupid questions...
  1. Has anyone ever told you you look like the lead singer of Bad Religion? I think you do...
meloni   isn't he kinda balding?....hey wait a minute
  2. I'm writing on a laptop from the hospital (40th kidney stone, ooh fun for me). Will you come visit?
meloni   only if I can bring my gall stones and we can share and mix and match and stuff

Thanks for your work. Big fan of SVU.
I really enjoyed your characters for Wet Hot American Summer and Harold&Kumar, effin hilarious.
Thanks for answering, if you do manage to answer.

First, I want to say that I think you are very attractive. (And not just because you are famous.) I have always been attracted to slightly older men. (I am 27)
Also, I think you are very talented. You succeed at each different type of role you take on.
  1. You say that your roles will not affect how you are around your kids. Do you/will you shelter them from any sort of tv shows/movies? (Language, situations, etc) I just saw Souler Opposites for the first time and I was wondering if you want them to be a certain age before they are exposed to that sort of stuff. (Or maybe they already are.)
meloni   well I don't know what the exact cut off is- I suppose I'll know when I come to it. they ain't watching Oz or SVU for awhile
  2. How many tattoos do you have? What and where are they?
meloni   2 left arm, left thigh and coming soon....a third
  3. If you were single, would you date someone that is only 27?
    meloni   yes

I think it is awesome that you are so down to earth and actually take the time to interact with your fans. I wish you continued success and happiness.
Please let us know if you ever do any “meet and greet” with the fans. I would love to meet you.
Love ya!!
