Hey Chris, Here we go again. I'm sure you wait breathlessly by your computer trembling in anticipation for my questions so here they are:

  1. Re: Your appearance on the view: a) how long did it take you to come up with that mary chris moose groaner?
    b) if you had to pick one host of the view to take out for kitty pies and a couple of beers who would it be?
meloni   a) 2 minutes 14 seconds, I'm glad you liked it.
    b) Starr
  2. What's your favourite word that rhymes with your last name and why? Here are some suggestions to help get the rhyme-section of your brain started: Baloney, Rigatoni, Pony, Alimony, Zamboni.
    meloni   Pony
  3. Favourite prison jumpsuit: Striking orange or subdued blue?
    meloni   orange
  4. a) If you cut that album with Ice-T, what would you call it?
    b) Would you give yourself a rapping name to go with your new rapper status, a la Sean Combs-(aka P.Diddy?)
meloni   "why can't we all just get along"
  5. In a recent episode of SVU, Stabler and Benson were in an animal shelter. How much restraint did it take for you to resist putting all those kitties in leotards?
    meloni   much
  6. So Keller's in protective custody now. That's a lot of dead time to kill. What would you do to fill those endless, lonely hours if you were Keller?
    meloni   dream of you
  7. Admit it. The real reason Keller's in protective custody is because you didn't want to sing with the other inmates in the episode 'Variety' and you thought that was how you were going avoid it. What song would Keller sing to symbolize his journey through the penal system anyway?
meloni   breaking up is hard to do
  8. And finally, the most important question of them all:
My friend Jackie wants to know if you've ever considered growing a mustache. A handlebar one.
    meloni   for her yes

Thank you for indulging me and you're welcome for my ever insightful, deep questions.

Evie   Answered Feb 18th 12:02 PM

Chris,

  1. Just one question I'd like to clarify. I was just wondering if you had to give up a current character role(Stabler or Keller), who would it be.

    Thanx

meloni   I'm not touching that one

Jes and Jenessa   Answered Feb 18th 12:01 PM

Dear Chris,

  1. My friend and I decided we could not pass up the opportunity to write to this site--our first fan letter ever! We love your work--especially OZ--but we have concluded that our favorite of your roles is Gene in Wet Hot American Summer. We sit in our thesis workshop whispering lines like, "I have to go hump the fridge" to cut the tedium of class. Thank you for an unforgettable role. What on Earth inspired you??

    With admiration,

meloni   any time one's quotes are used to break the tedium...well I think that is the mark of having made it. Inspiration came from the writing and my interpretation of them words and from the hope that you would be uttering the stuff long after I had shot it

  1. What would you recommend? New York or L.A.?

Christopher,

  1. You said you hadn't been asked to do an interview with Metal Rules! Magazine but just last week, I got an email from the editor, Jeff Rappaport, who told me he contacted your publicist in the spring, soon after he interviewed Lee. Your publicist informed him you were too busy, which we all know you were. Still, I'm surprised you didn't get the information. Is there any way you could work this out? Jeff wants to interview you and we would all love to read it. Thanks
meloni   -ok, will do. 'my handlers' probably want me to do more high falutin' type mags. I can't be seen saying TOOL RULES, BRA!

I like to ask Chris about the picture hanging on his wall next to the black dog.

  1. It looks like a woman and man but the woman has her hands behind her back. I thinks its very fasacining and just would like to know something about it, who did it and what drew him to it.
meloni   The artist' name is Kimberly Austin (Perry Farrell) wrote a song about her). she's out of SF and has one leg. This is part of a series of bald nudes. photo images burned onto three different pieces of clothe. very haunting images attracted me and the artist intrigued me- Actually wanted to do a documentary on her but a certain gallery that was exhibiting her show said yes and then put up 1000 restrictions so...

Pirl   Answered Feb 15th 10:18 AM

  1. Okay, so we're all a flutter now that we've seen Keller return on "Oz," but your fans still have some unresolved issues. Primarily with certain co-stars of yours. On SVU we have now seen Clohessy, Otto, Zayas, Lance, R.E., B.D., J.K. (what's with the initials anyway?) Kristin, Dean... I think you see my point. Am I being forced to start a scathing letter-writing campaign aimed at your Casting Department to get Lee on the show? Or is it that the "bitch" :-) himself is too "busy" to do any other guest shots outside that lame excuse for a show, "Third Watch?"
meloni   ya hit the nail right on the head- da bitch busy

meloni   so you write me and take a dig at my country's shitty exports? hey, fuck you ;-)
  1. I just want to ask you if you think that people love more your way to tell the story (your performance, indeed) or the sexy and pervert way of your character? I mean, popularity for being a social influence and a "star" or because of the quality of the work ?

Happy Holidays Meloni, I hope you got to spend some quality time with friends and family. The new OZ season is looming.. OZ and Homicide are the only television shows I've ever watched consistently (I prefer film) but OZ not only features spectacular writing and acting but also gives me a dose of sociology and theology.. Fontana (and you) have balls for days. I hear Keller's story is especially fucked up this season, and I'm not surprised. All the chicks and gay dudes who worship Keller swear he's a poor misunderstood guy, I say he's a fucking sicko bastard with the occasional flash of decency and humanity. Anyway, a few questions..

  1. Out of my 5 favorite films, the ones that mean the most to me, I was wondering if you could pick out one you like the best: (Raging Bull, Requiem For A Dream, GoodFellas, Traffic, American Beauty)
meloni   smashing choices. Brazil? Cit. Kane?
  2. Same as above except for the 5 actors whose work had influenced me the most: Sean Penn, Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, Kevin Spacey, and Christopher Meloni. (I understand if you're biased)
    meloni   Ian Holm, Hackman, Depp
  3. Do you remember the last concert you've been to? I saw Jane's Addiction last month and they were incredible.. You ever listen to them? (X marked the spot on that particular evening for me..)
    meloni   big fan. Tool
  4. Is it true that in this upcoming season of OZ, there is a steamy scene of Keller and Rebadow going at it? Ąha>
    meloni   yup. sshhhhh
  5. Was getting to the new set in Bayonne kind of a bitch? I heard it's a great set but not exactly convenient to get to..
    meloni   it's a fucking bitch

Man, I remember at the beginning of the NFL season I talked shit that my Vikings were better than the Redskins.. How quickly things change. The Vikings really suck ass, Washington actually has a decent club. Anyway, that's another issue. Until next time dude..

meloni   dat's right. let my skinnys do the talking.

  1. I really enjoyed you in Runaway Bride, what was it like working with Julia Roberts?
meloni   she was focused, gracious, exhuberant and very kind and giving.

Morgan   Answered Jan 14th 11:02 PM

Mr. Meloni - First I would like to say that you are such a great actor. I have to admit that I have never really seen you in anything until I saw "Runaway Bride" and that movie is like one of my all time favorites. You were so great in it. All your sports pyscology. (can't spell) Anyway, I watch SVU every Friday night and I love that show. I think you are very good looking. I actually got my sister hooked on it. I never watched "Oz" until a month ago. I was flipping channels and I saw you and I started watching it and now I can't stop. But I have to admit that I hate the fact that they have transferred you. I was so upset. I don't think I can watch it if you aren't on it. Well to my questions.

  1. Are you a romantic?
meloni   I'm not sure I know what that implies...which maybe means if I gotta ask then maybe I'm not one? what's the criteria for being a romantic?

meloni   the cathedral that was turned into a mosque in Istanbul- the Hagia Sofia
  3. On the set of "Oz" does anyone else get embarrassed when you have to do a naked scene?
meloni   Lee frets a little, but when I give the bitch a little chore to occupy himself (like hold my robe) he's fine
  4. I am from the Washington D.C. area, I live in Alexandria, Virginia. And I was also wondering if you have seen all the momuments and everything and which one is your favorite?
meloni   Fan of the Lincoln, Jefferson, Vietnam

Ed   Answered Jan 14th 11:04 PM

What a terrific, interactive site! Love the performer, and get a real kick out of what the you reveal/share here. My query: Think you would be perfect in "I Never Sang for My Father." A stage revival is planned for January in NYC. A limited run. Melvyn Douglas and Gene Hackman were superb in the 1970 movie, but I'd pay to see a remake with you.

  1. Do you know the play? Would this type project/material interest you?
meloni   yes, have them postpone production until around July and get back to me. go. now. do it.

Robyn   Answered Jan 14th 11:07 PM

You never did pick a preference of Sir vs Darling, so I'll go with.....

Darling Sir,
Regarding the "InStyle" layout; I'm thinking you don't need me to tell you your home is beautiful, but I need you to clear something up for me.

  1. What in Heaven's Name are those things holding up the glass coffee table? In the picture they look like carvings of a chopped crab in a partially melting block of ice. Call me psychic, call me crazy, even call me late for dinner, but I just don't believe that's what they represent. I would like to know what they really are, please.
meloni   they are Balinese yogis carved from ebony or ash or....wood.

Now, go ask Sherman if I may ask her a question. Do as you're told.

  1. Sherman, in the mag you're wedding rings appear to be several bands of a dark metal, like copper. The lighting seems heavy on the amber, it makes it hard to tell true colors. I have never heard of using anything but traditional metals, now I think its a great idea. Is this what they are?
meloni   we melted down a few pennies and fitted my finger. thank you for asking, thank you for revealing the cheapskate I am stuck with thank you for caring.... enough

jfc   Answered Jan 12th 10:56 PM

  1. The In Style article on your home says one of your favorite artists is Roger Eberz. Beyond the fact that he can turn out a great snarling dog, can you tell us something about him and his style and what about his work made you such a fan?
meloni   I know the guy and I want him to believe in his talent as much as I do. that's it
  2. With regard to the crucifix hanging on your wall: Was it a random find that just appealed to you when you saw it? Does it come from any particular country and period that you know of? Does it predate or postdate your famed tattoo? Is the fact the same theme appears on your arm and your wall merely coincidental?
meloni   am a big fan of religious symbols, crucifixes in particular. that one is from Texas @1920's. never saw one with a skull and crossbones on the bottom of it. predates tat
  3. While In Style showed us much of the art in your home, it commented on only a few items. Could you choose one item shown in the article that was not discussed in the text and tell us a little more about it?
meloni   no, cause I don't even remember what the article said
  4. Films about artists range from romantic biopics such as the first Moulin Rouge, to incisive psychological studies such as that of Francis Bacon in Love is the Devil, to imaginative treatments such as Carlos Saura's Goya in Bordeaux & his new one about Bunuel/Dali/Lorca, to radically free and wild approaches such as Derek Jarman's Caravaggio. Have you seen any films about artists that had any appeal for you? Do any of the above types of approaches to presenting an artist's life and work have more interest for you than others? Do you think a film about an artist can really add anything to appreciating his work beyond what his work itself conveys to us?
meloni   a film might be a nice intro to an artist but past that....I don't know
  5. If you are not opposed to the idea of a film about an artist, and questions of physical appearance were irrelevant, is there an artist you might like to portray in a film?
    meloni   michelangelo
  6. Have you seen any specific paintings new to you in museums in the last year that grabbed your interest? If so, can you name one and its artist for us?
    meloni   lots....unfortunately I can't remember a damn one. damn

Hey Chris. Thanks for answering my previous questions. It felt kinda weird to see you on tv last night, then read here the answers that you gave me. Thank you so much. It was a nice feeling to know that you care enough about your fans to answer these questions.

  1. I don't really want to pry into your private life, because that is exactly what it is, private. But I want to know if you feel fulfilled in life. It is so hard to tell if celebs are really happy, or they are just putting on a front. You seem to be a happy man from the sense of humour that you have in answering these questions, but do you feel fulfilled? Is there anything that you want to do in life that you feel needs to be done for fulfillment? Or is there anything that you want to do that you haven't already done for the pleasure of it?

    meloni   espresso baby. lots o...

That's all really...it seem the previous posters have asked pretty much every other question possible to man (or woman). 1. Do you think that someone with no acting ability can be taught to act and be good at it, or do you think that its a talent that you must already possess? Does that make sense?
meloni   I don't think if you have NO ability that you'll get it. I think you must possess a sense of the art and have a big desire to pursue it deeper beyond all other things. uh, that's wjhat I think
